Wheelchair Rugby

-Invented in 1976 by 5 Canadian Wheelchair Athletes to give quadrapelgics a sport to play (they could play wheelchair basketball, but due to their injured hands, coukd only play limited roles)
-First Paralympics was in 2000 in Sydney
-Currently played in 26 countries worldwide
-Must be impaired in at least 3 limbs to play at any level
-There is no age division due to a mixed age of athletes
-Played 4 on 4 with an 0.5-3.5 classification system. Girls classification is half point lower, 8 points are allowed on the floor at once
-Mixed gender
-Levels of play from least to most competitive: Division 2, (recreational league) Provincial Development, Provincial, National NextGen,  National Development, Division 1, National

Wheelchair Rugby is played on a basketball court. To score a goal, a player must wheel over the goal line with the ball in his/her possesion. 

Wheelchair Basketball

-Invented in 1944 by Ludwig Guttman as rehabilitation and recreation for injured war veterans
-First Paralympics in 1964
-Played workldwide
- Must have a disability preventing you from walking/running
-Junior and senior divisions due to many athletes being born with disability
-Played 5 on 5 with 1-4.5 classification system. 14 points allowed on court at 1 time (15 points Canada Games level)
-Mixed gender in junior, seperate for U23 and senior
-Levels of play from least to most competative: Division 2 (recreational)
Junior Provincial, Junior National, Provincial, National, U23 Team Canada, Team Canada

Wheelchair Basketball is played on a basketball court and shares many rules with stand-up basketball including free throws and 3 pointers with the same lines.
